Development Manager

Position Summary:

 

Arlington Charities is seeking a dynamic and experienced Development Manager to strategically lead and manage donor campaigns and other development activities. Reporting to the Executive Director, this individual will be responsible for increasing awareness, cultivating donor relationships, and ensuring the successful execution of the organization’s development initiatives. The Development Manager will also oversee the Special Events Coordinator, Community Outreach Specialist, and a Grants Contractor, ensuring alignment with fundraising and outreach goals. The ideal candidate will be a passionate advocate for our mission, a skilled communicator, and a proactive team player with a positive attitude.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Fundraising & Donor Engagement:

  • Collaborate with the Executive Director to create and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan.

  • Increase awareness of Arlington Charities by engaging current and prospective donors through outreach initiatives such as lunch-and-learns, facility tours, and community presentations.

  • Personally identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward mid-level and monthly donors.

  • Secure financial support from individuals, businesses, and organizations.

  • Develop and implement donor stewardship plan.

 

Development Strategy & Operations:

 

  • Collaborate with the communications team to develop a digital strategy that supports fundraising goals.

  • Provide regular progress reports on fundraising activities and donor engagement.

  • Oversee individual donor campaigns (such as direct mail appeals).

  • Oversee the management of donor software (DonorPerfect), ensuring accurate data entry, gift processing, and reporting.

  • Generate and analyze donor and financial reports to track performance and inform strategic decisions.

  • Contribute to the development of newsletters, annual reports, and other donor communications.

  • Supervise the Special Events Coordinator, Community Outreach Specialist, and Grants Contractor, providing guidance and ensuring alignment with fundraising and outreach objectives.
     

Database & Administrative Management:

 

  • Maintain and update the donor database, ensuring accuracy and consistency in records.

  • Balance and create income reports and backend edits within DonorPerfect.

  • Generate donor and financial reports as needed.

  • Assist with additional organizational tasks in line with Arlington Charities’ team philosophy.
     

Qualifications & Skills:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, nonprofit management, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in fundraising, sales, or business development.

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and interact effectively with donors, sponsors, and community members.

  • Experience in donor and sponsorship solicitation, with a track record of successful relationship management.

  • Proficiency in MS Office and CRM applications, particularly DonorPerfect.

  • Strong understanding of fundraising best practices and donor stewardship.

  • Creative problem-solving abilities and a strategic mindset.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

  • Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends for special events and donor engagements.
     

Compensation & Benefits:

 

  • Salary: $60,000 - $65,000, depending on qualifications and experience.

  • Paid holidays, two weeks of paid vacation per year, and eight days of paid sick leave per year. 12 paid holidays (including winter “shut down” week between Christmas and New Years.

  • Employer-paid life insurance.

  • 90% employer-paid vision and dental insurance.
